We will head out to the volcano Hengill where Hellisheiði and Nesjavellir powerplants harness geothermal energy creating electricity for the whole capital. There among the steam columns we will make a short stop at a secluded geothermal area where you can take a closer look at the bubbling hot springs. On the way back we fly along the continental rift line at Þingvellir National Park where it is possible to see clearly how the country is being pulled apart.
