Queer City Walk | Pride Edition
3 hours · From Reykjavík

Glacier-carved valleys, ancient rivers, Iceland’s largest lava cave, and the world’s most powerful hot spring! These are just a few of our favorite things on this enchanting journey through West Iceland.
We begin in Whale Fjord (Hvalfjörður), a quiet, dramatic fjord with deep ties to Icelandic folklore. The origin of its name is still debated, but one version tells the tale of Rauðhöfði (“Red Head”), an enormous, vengeful whale whose heart exploded atop Whale Mountain. Your guide may have a different version, possibly funnier, possibly weirder, possibly truer, possibly not.
From there, we head to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe. Its boiling water supplies much of West Iceland with geothermal energy and enabling generations to live in the area.
Next, you choose your own adventure:
Víðgelmir Lava Cave
Descend into the underworld and explore one of Iceland’s largest lava caves. With otherworldly colours, natural ice formations, and the eerie beauty of volcanic rock, Víðgelmir is a surreal and unforgettable experience, made safe and accessible with expert guides and subtle lighting.
OR
Krauma Geothermal Baths
Prefer to stay above ground? Krauma combines water from Deildartunguhver hot spring with glacial meltwater to offer five hot baths, a cold plunge, two steam rooms, and a relaxation lounge where you can sip, snooze, or soak it all in.
Before heading back, we visit one of Iceland’s most striking natural wonders: Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. Here, clear spring water flows straight out of the lava field, forming hundreds of tiny waterfalls. The nearby Barnafoss (“Children’s Falls”) has a haunting legend of its own, ask your guide to tell you the story if you’re in the mood for a little drama.
Bonus stop (when possible): We love swinging by Háafell Goat Farm, where a dedicated family is working to save the rare Icelandic goat from extinction. Get up close and personal with these ancient (and adorable) creatures and maybe sample some goat cheese or soap while you’re there.
