Therefore, ice  caves we’ve visited in previous seasons, such as the Blue Diamond,  Sapphire ice cave and Crystal ice cave, no longer exist or are  inaccessible.At the beginning of each season our guides go out  and scout the best glacier locations, so we can share our glacial  wonderland with you – without compromising your safety.Please note that we will not be the only group visiting the ice cave. Prepare for some steeper sections, rewarded with even more breathtaking views.Please note: While the glacier is vast, we cannot guarantee solitude,  particularly in the ice cave area where you may encounter other groups.Please wear warm and waterproof outdoor clothing, a hat and gloves. We recommend thicker, woollen socks, avoiding cotton clothing and bringing layers.Hiking boots can be rented on location for 1500 ISK. These formations are reached by a guided glacier walk, led by trained and experienced glacier guides.The full ice cave tour lasts around 4 hours, occasionally 3.5 hours, depending on conditions and group pace. Walking distances vary, and your guide will select the safest and most scenic route for the day. All required glacier equipment—microspikes or crampons—is provided, depending on the type of blue ice feature accessed during your departure.Important: Iceland’s ice caves are natural, dynamic structures shaped by winter conditions. Glacier Encounter is our classic short tour and the perfect  introduction to glaciers in Vatnajökull National park. In this 3 hour  tour we explore the icy landscape of the outlet glacier Falljökull. By  driving to the glacier on our super jeeps, we reserve our energy and add  time for enjoyment up on the beautiful glacier. We carbon offset all of  our tours as we believe it to be our responsibility as a glacier  guiding company.Once we reach the edge of the glacier we put on  our crampons, and armed with an ice axe, we venture onto the ice to  explore the fascinating ice features such as moulins, crevasses,  moraines and dirt cones. Your guide will tell you about the local Öræfi  region, home to the highest peak of Iceland and several volcanoes. The glacier surface and colours change drastically depending  on the time of the year. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the views  of the high mountain peaks and black sand beaches stretching out into  the ocean in the distance.Our meeting point is Freysnes Service station, 2 minutes from Skaftafell National Park. Glacier Encounter 

We ask you to please arrive promptly 15 minutes before the start time of your tour. 

Experience the mighty Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe.  On  this extended half-day tour we head higher up on the outlet glacier  Falljökull, named for its incredible blue icefall.We depart from  our meeting point at Freysnes Service station with all necessary  glacier gear. After a super-jeep ride, which we carbon offset, we put on  our crampons by the glacier’s edge,  grab our ice axe and begin the  ascent over 300 meters up towards the ice fall. Surrounded by blue ice  and peaks carved by glaciers we will have our eyes peeled for crevasses,  moulins, waterfalls and any other fun features that spring up in the  dynamic glacial landscape. During the hike your guide will tell you about the geography and history of the area, and explain glacial features.This tour is for those looking for an in-depth glacier experience in Iceland, perfect for those who enjoy long hikes, or just looking for a bit of an adventure.
