As we journey into Borgarfjörður, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the dramatic settings that inspired the famous Icelandic Sagas. Our first major stop is Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe. Here, you can witness water bubbling at a near-boiling 97°C (207°F), steaming out of moss-covered lava rocks. This geothermal marvel supplies hot water to much of West Iceland and powers local spas like Krauma.

Next, we visit two stunning waterfalls:

• Hraunfossar ("Lava Falls") – A series of crystal-clear rivulets that seem to magically emerge from beneath the Hallmundarhraun lava field, cascading over a wide expanse into the Hvítá river.
• Barnafoss ("Children’s Falls") – A powerful, churning waterfall with a tragic legend. According to folklore, two children fell to their deaths here, giving the falls their haunting name. The surrounding landscape, with its natural stone arch and turbulent waters, evokes both beauty and mystery.
