When cruising on the icelandic south coast, waterfalls and sights of glaciers will leave you in awe, but underneath the ice, or far in the distance, are located some of the most dangerous, famous and powerful volcanoes in the country. Your guide will tell you everything you need to know about them, but to get a deep understanding of the volcanic activity going on under the earth on the South Coast, we will first visit the exhibition of the Lava Center. This museum gives you a good grasp on how frequent eruptions are in  Iceland, and what is actually causing so much volcanic activity in our little arctic corner of the wolrd.

Following this, we will begin our sightseeing with the beautiful waterfall of Seljalandsfoss, which, in the summer, allows you to walk behind and around it. Followed by another waterfall: Skógafoss, which was actually featured in Game of Thrones. Then we will visit the glacier of Sólheimajökull and the most famous black sand beach in Iceland: Reynisfjara, which also was a filming location for Game Of Thrones. Finally, we will learn a bit more about volcanoes in one of the best show in the country: The Lava Show. A speaker with deep knowledge in the icelandic geology will pour down actual lava, right before your eyes. Besides the spectacular visual effect, this show is also a way to get very precise information about the lava itself, its cooling process and how volcanoes affect our daily lives in the land of fire and ice.
