Horse Riding and Spa: SKY LAGOON
5 hours · From Reykjavík
Capital Area
Sky Lagoon sits on the Kársnes peninsula in Kópavogur, just a 15-minute drive from central Reykjavík, with the Atlantic Ocean stretching out beyond its infinity edge. The design is genuinely striking — dark volcanic stone, warm geothermal water, and unobstructed views across the sea. On a clear day you can see the Snæfellsnes glacier on the horizon.
The centrepiece is the seven-step Skjól ritual: a circuit of sauna, cold plunge, steam room, and sky-open lagoon that takes around 45 minutes to complete properly. It's worth doing in full rather than skipping straight to the main pool. Water temperatures sit around 38–40°C year-round, which means this is just as rewarding in February sleet as it is on a rare summer evening.
Tickets start at around 11,990 ISK for the Pure pass (lagoon access plus the ritual), with the Pure Lite option slightly cheaper if you're skipping the full ritual experience. Book in advance — it fills up fast, especially at weekends and during the northern lights season from September to March. Evening slots often offer the best atmosphere.
