Affiliate Program Terms & Policy

1. Overview

The QR Travel Affiliate Program (“Program”) is operated by QR Travel ehf., registered in Iceland (kt. 420126-0260), with its principal office at Suðurlandsbraut 10, 108 Reykjavík, Iceland (“QR Travel”, “we”, “us”).

By applying to or participating in the Program, you (“Affiliate”, “Partner”, “you”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. QR Travel reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Eligibility & Application

The Program is open to businesses and individuals operating in Iceland's tourism and hospitality sector, including but not limited to: hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, car rental companies, taxi services, and tour operators.
All applications are subject to review and approval by QR Travel. We reserve the right to decline any application without providing a reason.
You must provide accurate business information during registration. Misrepresentation may result in immediate termination.
You must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to enter binding agreements.

3. How It Works

Once approved, you will receive a unique referral link and QR code. When a customer books a tour or experience on QR Travel through your referral link, you earn a commission on the completed booking.

Referral tracking

Referrals are tracked using browser cookies with a 30-day attribution window.
The referral must result in a completed and paid booking to qualify for commission.
If a customer clears their cookies or uses a different device, the referral may not be tracked.

4. Commission Structure

Commission rates typically range from 5% to 10% of the booking value, depending on the tour operator and product.
QR Travel sets commission rates at its discretion and may adjust rates at any time with reasonable notice.
Commission is earned only on confirmed and completed bookings. Cancelled or refunded bookings do not qualify.
Commission is calculated on the net booking amount (excluding taxes and service fees where applicable).

5. Payouts

Payouts are processed monthly via Icelandic bank transfer (millifærsla).
You must provide valid Icelandic bank account details (bank number, höfuðbók, account number) in your affiliate settings.
The minimum payout threshold is 5,000 ISK. Balances below this amount carry over to the next month.
Payouts are issued for commissions on bookings that have been completed (i.e., the tour has taken place).
QR Travel reserves the right to withhold payouts if fraud or policy violations are suspected.

6. Affiliate Responsibilities

As an affiliate, you agree to:

Represent QR Travel and its tour operators honestly and accurately.
Not engage in misleading, deceptive, or spammy marketing practices.
Not bid on QR Travel branded keywords (e.g., “QR Travel”, “qrtravel.is”) in paid search advertising.
Not create websites or social media accounts that could be confused with official QR Travel properties.
Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Icelandic Consumer Rights Act and EU/EEA data protection regulations (GDPR).
Display your referral links and QR codes in a professional manner appropriate to your business.

7. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate termination:

Self-referrals — booking through your own affiliate link for personal use.
Cookie stuffing, click fraud, or any form of artificial traffic generation.
Using the Program to promote illegal, offensive, or inappropriate content.
Offering unauthorized discounts, cashback, or incentives tied to QR Travel bookings.
Scraping, republishing, or otherwise misusing QR Travel content without permission.

8. Intellectual Property

QR Travel grants you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the QR Travel name and logo solely for the purpose of promoting tours through the affiliate program. You may not modify, alter, or create derivative works from QR Travel branding.

9. Data & Privacy

QR Travel processes affiliate data in accordance with the Icelandic Data Protection Act (lög um persónuvernd) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We collect and store your name, email, business information, and bank details solely for the purpose of operating the affiliate program.

Customer data obtained through referrals remains the property of QR Travel. Affiliates do not have access to customer personal information.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate participation in the Program at any time by providing written notice via email to qrtravel@qrtravel.is.
QR Travel may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these terms.
Upon termination, any pending commissions on completed bookings will be paid out in the next regular payout cycle, provided the minimum threshold is met.
Unpaid balances below the minimum threshold at termination are forfeited.

11. Limitation of Liability

QR Travel provides the affiliate program on an “as is” basis. We do not guarantee any specific level of earnings or booking volume. QR Travel shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your participation in the Program.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur).
